  • 何かをする以外に他の選択肢や他の方法がないことを表すのに使われる文型。
  • 避けられないことや他の選択肢がないことを強調するために使われることが多い。

例文

  • エレベーターが故障(こしょう)しているから、階段(かいだん)で上(うえ)まで行(い)くしかない。
    Since the elevator is out of order, we have no choice but to use the stairs.
  • 台風(たいふう)が来(こ)ているから、キャンプは中止(ちゅうし)するしかない。
    Since a typhoon is coming, we have no choice but to cancel the camping trip.
  • 新(あたら)しいパソコンがほしいけど、お金(かね)がないので諦(あきら)めるしかない。
    I want a new computer, but since I don’t have the money, I’ll have to give up.

    With only one month left until the Japanese exam, I have no choice but to do my best.
