[Particle] は (Topic): Meaning and Example Sentences

One of the uses of the particle "は" to mark the topic of a sentence.
The topic of a sentence can often be the subject of a sentence. When the subject and the topic differ, note that the subject may be omitted.

山(やま)田(だ)さん、週(しゅう)末(まつ)は何(なに)をしますか。ー料(りょう)理(り)をします。

Yamada-san, what are you doing this weekend? ー I'll be cooking.
もう、レポートを書(か)きましたか。ーいいえ。レポートは、明(あ)日(した)書(か)きます。
