[Grammar pattern] V(ない) + なくてはならない: Meaning and Example Sentences

A grammar pattern used to express a requirement or obligation to do a certain action.
The pattern "V(ない) + なくてならない" is often used in cases where it is a personal judgment, compared to the similar pattern "V(ない) + なければならない."
In casual conversation with family members or close friends, "なくちゃ", the short form of "なくてはならない", is also used.

財(さい)布(ふ)をなくしたので、警(けい)察(さつ)へ行(い)かなくてはならない。

I lost my wallet, so I have to go to the police.
寮(りょう)では、自(じ)分(ぶん)で掃(そう)除(じ)や洗(せん)濯(たく)をしなくてはならない。

In the dorm, you have to clean and do laundry by yourself.
