の (Belonging)

  • One of the uses of the particle "の" to indicate that something belongs to a certain group or category.

Example Sentences

  • これは、ペットの「ポチ」です。
    This is my pet "Pochi".
  • 彼(かれ)はだれですか。 ー 息(むす)子(こ)の「太(た)郎(ろう)」です。
    Who is he? - He's my son, Taro.
  • これは、神(じん)社(じゃ)の水(みず)です。
    This is water from a shrine.
  • 日(に)本(ほん)のサッカーは強(つよ)いです。
    Japanese soccer is strong.
  • ビールを作(つく)りました。これが、原(げん)料(りょう)の麦(むぎ)です。
    I made beer. This is the barley used as an ingredient.
